In a regular-season meet, Saint Andrews, University and American Heritage battled it out in the pool. Saint Andrews walked away with victories for the both their girls and boys team.
Outstanding individual swims for the girls came from University’s Allison Kopas, who won the 200 IM and 100 Fly. American Heritage’s Audrey Mason won the 200 and 500 Free and Cooper who won the 50 and 100 Free.
Saint Andrews head coach Sid Cassidy reflected on the girls’ team’s performance: “I am very excited that our girls opened with two victories against two strong opponents. They know we lost some key players yet our current team dynamic is as strong as it has ever been thanks to some great senior leadership. We faced a few outstanding swimmers today but our team depth left little doubt that we were definitely the superior team today.”
Meanwhile for the boys, American Heritage’s Julien Pinon won two events, the 100 and 200 Free. As for the Scots, Coach Cassidy added, “Our young men really stepped up and surprised a few folks today. Winning all three relays over the defending 2-A State champs (Heritage) and a tough University team that beat us at Regionals last year is something to really build on. If we are going to grow into State Contenders it will be based largely on the strength of those relay teams.”
