Seven Bay County High School Swimmers, Two Divers, Earn Individual District Champ Titles at Class 2A-District 1 Championships
Panama City Beach, FL — Seven Bay County high school swimmers and two divers earned individual “District Champion” titles at the Class 2A – District 1 Championship swim and dive meet held at the Panama City Beach Aquatic Center on Thursday, October 22.
The 10 high schools in attendance from around the district were Arnold, Bay, Mosley, Rutherford, plus Choctawatchee, Fort Walton Beach, Godby, Gulf Breeze, Rickards and West Florida.
Among the highlights of the meet, Arnold High School senior Hannah Retherford set a new Bay County record in the girls 100 butterfly, finishing in 57.25 and besting the record she set at the Bay County Championships on October 8.
Bay County’s District Champions are:
-Nico Gobel (Arnold) – boys 200 freestyle in 1:51.19 and 500 freestyle in 4:57.07.
-Chad McGuire (Arnold) – boys 100 breaststroke in 1:01.06.
-Hunter McCarter (Arnold) – boys diving.
-Logan Flitcraft (Mosley) – boys 100 butterfly in 54.80.
-Hannah Retherford (Arnold) – girls 100 butterfly in 57.25 and 100 backstroke in 58.26.
-Kalanne Krause (Arnold)- girls 200 individual medley in 2:14.56.
-Carson Bronnenberg (Arnold) – girls diving.
-Alyssa Hurst (Bay) – girls 100 breaststroke in 1:10.20.
-Amelia Talkington (Mosley) – girls 200 freestyle in 1:56.24.
District Champion relay teams from Bay County high schools are:
-Arnold boys 400 Freestyle Relay (Chad McGuire, Cole Tillman, Alex Phlegar, Nico Gobel) in 3:24.69.
-Arnold boys 200 Medley Relay (Alex Phlegar, Chad McGuire, Keenan Williams, Nico Gobel) in 1:41.46.
-Arnold girls 200 Medley Relay (Maddie Campbell, Kari Troia, Hannah Retherford, Kalanne Krause) in 1:52.85.
